In response to increasing sitings of rats, the City has decided to take a proactive approach to mitigation efforts to ensure the health and safety of our residents Citywide. In addition to enhanced enforcement of property maintenance issues, as well as control measures within the public alleyways, the City is now offering a cost-share program for all residents and businesses who wish to install bait stations on their private property.

The City has contracted with Chem-Wise Ecological Pest Management to offer pest control services to residents and businesses Citywide. The services include an initial inspection, installation of an exterior bait station, and three months of follow-up services. The cost for these services is $70 to the resident for the three month period. If additional bait stations are requested, there will be an additional charge of $25 per station. If activity persists beyond three months, residents can enter into a monthly agreement for approximately $45 per month.

The program is not intended for other pest control services on private property, such as mice, chipmunks, squirrels or other rodents.  

How to Apply: 

Step 1. Complete the Rat Mitigation Program Liability Waiver

Step 2. Staff will review your application and provide further instructions for submitting the required $70.00 payment.  Please expect a response within 3-5 business days.

It is important for all residents to take measures to avoid attracting pests, including:

• Ensuring garbage is kept contained within trash cans.
• Picking up pet waste and not feeding animals outdoors.
• Keeping weeds and grass from becoming overgrown.
• Removing piles of branches, wood, or other debris.
• Avoid keeping open compost bins.
