Through the capital planning process, the City has awarded an agreement to Berger Contractors, Inc. to complete a drainage improvement project in Ward 1. The work will include constructing a detention basin at the northwest corner of Oak Meadows Drive and IL-Route 83, retrofitting the existing basin on Oak Meadows Drive near Edgewood Avenue, and increasing the size of the conveyance sewers between the two basins.  The project will increase the detention capacity of the storm sewer system by approximately six acre-feet and will alleviate flooding to upstream areas. 

The work will begin in mid-June and is expected to be completed by the end of October. Due to the nature and location of the work, traffic along Oak Meadows Drive will be impacted throughout the project. We greatly appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we improve our infrastructure.

The City of Wood Dale will be working with contractors to evaluate and potentially repair aging sewer pipes throughout your area. As sewers age, cracks and breaches can develop, so it is imperative that these are addressed to prevent water from leaking. Damaged sewer pipes can overflow and sewage can leak into the natural environment.

The first stage of the project consists of inspecting sewers to identify structural deficiencies and sources of inflow and infiltration. This stage includes performing smoke testing, manhole inspections and mapping. Then, over the next few years the city will rehabilitate the damaged lines.  Click here for more.

The City employs various preventative maintenance techniques to prolong the life of the roadway and delay more costly improvements. These methods include:

• Pavement Patching – Sectional removal and replacement of damages asphalt segments. 
• Crack Sealing – Routing and filling of cracks with rubber or fiber material. 
• Pavement Marking – Removal and replacement of faded striping and stop bars. 
• Surface Treatments – Rejuvenators or sealers intended to treat the wearing course of pavement and extend its useful life. 

Beginning on August 31, 2026, OSMA Inc. will be working on behalf of Comcast to replace cable in a portion of Ward 1.  Advanced notice will be given to residents, as the work will take place in backyard easements of certain properties.  No traffic impact is expected during this project.  Construction complaints may be directed to Comcast at (630) 932-1810 or to the Public Works Department at (630) 350-3530 | pwadmin@wooddale.com.
