Staging point for bulk sand bag placement has been identified at the following locations when creek elevation reaches 675.0:

• Carter and Charmille southeast corner
• Across the street from 232 Forest View Ave (on east side of road)
• Potter Street – between Edgebrook and Oakwood
• 408 Grove Street (on parkway)

Additional Sand Bag Locations for Flash Flooding

• Dead End on South Cedar
• S Cedar and Spring Oaks
• Just north of Deerpath and S Central
• George and Prospect
• Potter St Pumping Station
• Prospect and Sarah

When the storm has subsided and the sand bags are no longer needed, residents are asked to return the sand bags to the staging areas. Public Works staff will allow 14 days for residents to return the sand bags to the proper location.

"The City will make every effort to make sand bags available to the residents during periods of notable elevations of Salt Creek.  The distribution of the Sand Bags is dependent upon the staffing available to the City, and other emergencies within the City.  The City cannot control the outside factors, so unfortunately cannot guarantee the distribution of sand bags to all of the designated sites."

The Stormwater Management Plan (PDF) was adopted by the DuPage County Board in 1989. This Plan established the goals, objectives and policies for developing a successful stormwater management program. In accordance with the Plan, the DuPage County Stormwater and Floodplain Ordinance (PDF) was adopted in October 1991 and went into effect in February 1992. The Plan and the Ordinance set the foundation for the DuPage County Stormwater Management Program.

As outlined in the Plan, the six goals guiding the Stormwater Management Program are:

1. Reduce the existing potential for stormwater damage to public health, safety, life and property.
2. Control future increases in stormwater damage within DuPage County and in areas of adjacent counties affected by DuPage County drainage.
3. Protect and enhance the quality, quantity and availability of surface and groundwater resources.
4. Preserve and enhance existing aquatic and riparian environments and encourage restoration of degraded areas.
5. Control sediment and erosion in and from drainage ways, developments and construction sites.
6. Promote equitable, acceptable and legal measures for stormwater management.
