Chickens in Wood Dale?
The Wood Dale City Council is considering whether to permit residents of single-family homes to keep chickens within city limits. Currently, keeping chickens is prohibited in Wood Dale. However, several nearby communities allow residents to keep chickens or hens, subject to certain restrictions.
Residents will have the opportunity to share their opinions on this issue by responding to a non-binding referendum question, which will appear on the March 17, 2026, election ballot as: "Should the City of Wood Dale amend its Zoning Code to allow for hens only, not roosters, to be kept as an accessory use in single-family residential districts?” Yes. or No
