Wood Dale Restaurant/Bar Outdoor Service Information
With Governor Pritzker’s recent announcement to allow establishments to provide outdoor seating beginning May 29 or upon entering phase 3 of the Restore Illinois Plan to offer a socially-distanced experience, the City of Wood Dale understands you may wish to take advantage of this as another option for your customers.
City Council is working to develop a plan that would offer assistance with the added expenses that may result from offering outdoor service options. It is important to support our businesses during the COVID-19 crisis, therefore we are developing this program to assist all Wood Dale businesses who wish to participate. In addition, Council would establish a temporary COVID liquor license at no fee that would allow all current liquor license holders to sell and offer for sale alcoholic beverages to be consumed in parking lots and areas adjacent to the restaurant or bar in accordance with the Restore Illinois plan. Locations that do not currently hold a liquor license would not be eligible for this new license, as that would require an extensive background, fingerprinting, and licensing process.
City Council has scheduled a special Council meeting for Thursday, May 28 where it is expected to vote on the financial incentive program and amendments to the liquor and City codes that allow outdoor service. These revised regulations approved by Council would go into effect immediately in time for service establishments to resume their operations.
City Council wishes to see its businesses succeed and looks forward to providing this assistance for you to better serve your customers. From all of us at City Hall, we wish you the best during these uncertain times.
